Story この家の物語
黒く光る焼き杉の壁が美しい、和モダンな佇まい。「長持ちする家に」とこだわったＢさんの住まいは、虫害や腐食などに強いとされる焼き杉の壁や、再塗装が不要な本瓦を使用した屋根など、外装に関する将来のメンテナンスが不要で「トータルコストダウン」をテーマにした建物だ。
玄関を開けた途端にあふれる、木の香り。「父が大工だったので、建てるなら木の家と決めてました」と奥さま。国産材へのこだわりや、自社職人たちが腕を振るう〈馬場住宅〉の木の家に惚れ込み、家族と何度も事務所を訪れ、「ほかの会社よりもこだわりや要望に応じてもらえるし、何より信頼できる」と二人三脚で家づくりを行うことを決めたという。リビングの床にはサクラを、トイレにはヒノキを敷き詰めた。家族の成長とともに、味わい深く変化する木の風合いも楽しめる。樹脂サッシに三重ガラスなどを組み合わせた窓のほか、壁と床と屋根にセルロースファイバーを使用した断熱性の高さにも注目。外に出てはじめて、その日の気温を知り驚くことも多いのだとか。子どもたちも、休日に出かけたいと言わなくなったとか。
「植物や畑にも興味が湧いてきました。車庫も作ってもらう予定で、とても楽しみ」とＢさんは満面の笑顔。家族の家づくりは、まだはじまったばかりだ。
